RDASA provides horse riding, carriage driving or other horse related activities for people with a disability.
Riders (also known as 'clients') come from many places, some with their school, others with their parents/carers and some are independent adults. However they find us, our aim is the same; we aim to develop their 'ability' rather than dwelling on their 'disability'.
All riding sessions are conducted by nationally accredited RDA coaches (NCAS scheme) with the help of trained volunteers and very special horses.
Clients are consulted about what they want to learn and in conjunction with their coach they set short term (one term) and long term (whole year) goals. Their progress is recorded and reviewed during the year and is rewarded at intervals with 'certificates of achievement'.
Throughout the year RDA SA and centres schedule events for our riders/drivers. These range from small internal activities where the whole event is run at the centre right up to State Dressage Championships or even National Dressage Championships which are held externally to regular RDA activities. There are also various opportunities to participate in external activities such as Hack Shows where our riders (supervised by an RDA coach) can integrate with and compete against able bodied riders.
No matter what level riders choose, RDA SA will provide a program which is safe and relevant to their needs.
N.B. Clients are required to complete several administration forms before commencing riding.
