Details to 1984
1971 First rode Ashford children (Crippled Children’s Assoc) at Mylor – Pickles to Ashford and Woodville.
1972 Constituted on 1 March, 1972 as Riding for the Handicapped
Sheoak – Somerton Children
Kersbrook – Woodville Spastic Centre
1973 Templewood – Woodville Spastic Centre
1975 Port Lincoln and Port Pirie Groups
Horse Expo – Princess Anne viewed group’s demonstration at Mylor.
First National Conference
1976 Held together by Mr. David McMichael.
1977 Glenside started to ride at Sheoak.
1978 Ponies taken to Regency Park
Orana at Sheoak P.C. Grounds
June – First newsletter
Sept – One-day seminar
Autistic riders started at Sheoak
Regency Park group started at Waterloo Corner
1979 Mylor adult group
December – end of Mylor (adult group & Regency group)
September – end of Templewood – children went to Kersbrook
July – Ashford Special School started – ponies taken to school
July – Suneden began – ponies taken to their school
Orana moved to Craigburn – added groups from Katuni & Minda
1980 A Regency Park group started going to Craigburn
More Ashford rider to Craigburn (besides ponies to their school)
New Woodville Special School at Sheoak.
Goolwa began group for special classes in Victor Harbor Primary & High Schools.
Silver Jubilee Award towards Craigburn also Government (Department of Recreation & Sport) grant
Proficiency awards began
Began involvement in shows and own gymkhanas
National body constituted
1981 March – opening at Craigburn of semi indoor riding arena
D.C.W. grant for Coordinator of $2,000 (included $500 administration costs)
Mt. Gambier started
Group B system established
Mt. Barker & Scott Creek started
Woodville Special School changed to Morphett Vale (later Clarendon)
May: Yatala Vale group started
Sunedenn moved to Craigburn
Ashford children moved to Craigburn
1982 Adult group commenced at Craigburn
Strathalbyn group began for special class
Consolidating place and use of Craigburn

1983 Scott Creek finished
Mt. Barker granted provisional B membership
Kersbrook Riding Shelter – Morialta Trust Grant
Kersbrook granted Provisional Group B membership
Changed from Goolwa to Victor Harbor – provisional membership B
Alice Springs formed group – Provisional Group B membership
1984 March – group commenced at Paracombe
May – Training day and Seminar day with visitors from The Fortune Centre
June – first Instructor’s Examinations.
Information from 1984 to present
1991 RDA Whyalla centre established (July) by Joan Prunty (now Lemmon) and friends.
1995 State office operations removed from Craigburn Farm to separate premises at Richmond.
1997 RDASA hosted National Dressage Championships
2000 State Office moved to Fullarton
2000 New Constitution adopted. "Groups" were renamed as "centres"
2004 New centre opened in Port Lincoln
2005 New centre opened in Yorke Peninsula
2006 Port Pirie centre mooted
2007 Barossa and Light centre begins to form
2008 State office moved to Maylands
