Extreme Heat Advice

Message from Department of Families & Communities

Dear Partners and Non-Government Organisations

Extreme Heat Advice (Moderate) has been issued by the State Emergency Service.
An extreme heat event is anticipated in the coming days. Please be aware of the hot weather and ensure that you are prepared to activate your Extreme Heat plans.
This is the time to make referrals of vulnerable clients to the Red Cross Telecross REDi service by phoning 1800 188 071. A trained Red Cross volunteer will then phone the registered person to check on their wellbeing during the heat event. The service is available across all of South Australia. Clients registered previously do not need to be referred again.
Organisations should activate their extreme weather policies and ensure clients and volunteers have access to water, a cool environment and medical assistance if necessary. You can access the DFC Extreme Heat Weather Plan online as follows:
Organisations requiring assistance with Extreme Heat plans should contact DFC [via RDA SA state office].
