Vaulting involves riders performing gymnastic exercises on a moving horse while on a lunge rein.
The main purposes of vaulting are to introduce and train young riders from the age of five or six how to treat and trust a horse, and secondly as a form of competition.
In RDA, vaulting is used to help develop rider skills and overcome rider problems such as fear or difficulty balancing.
Not currently available in South Australia due to lack of trained vaulting coaches.
